Notes

Description
"Men and Their Doings," one of nine chapters in the compilation of the State's markers and monuments, was born out of the frustration of what to do with singular markers or monuments to illustrious people whose presence in our state had been but a fleeting one, or else through their outstanding services they became citizens of the State, channelling [sic] these services in behalf of their communities, endearing themselves to their fellow citizens. The purpose was then to corral these into one chapter where they could be grouped into special segments or singularly fall into their respective niche. In other words, those men and women are the high and the humble, who do not easily fall into one of the larger groups such as Forts, Historical Roads or other chapters which have been blessed more abundantly with markers and monuments. -- Excerpt from Introduction.
